Spring at Stone Manor Studios is not simply a change of season. It is a time of renewal, fresh energy, and the quiet unfolding of ideas that have been waiting to bloom. Set in a historic stone carriage house in Newboro, Ontario, the Studios welcome the return of light, longer days, and the first signs of colour across the surrounding landscape.
This is a northern place, and the rhythm of the seasons shapes how we gather and create. Along the Rideau Canal corridor, generations have worked in close relationship with the land and water, tending carefully to the places they built. That same spirit of care continues at the Studios today. Spring workshops and creative gatherings offer a welcoming rhythm as artists return to the table, the easel, and the work of their hands.
As the countryside begins to bloom and daffodils appear across the Rideau Lakes region, creativity follows the same gentle unfolding. Every spring morning begins with small signs of change. The first daffodils are pushing through the soil. Bright yellow blooms open along country roads and garden paths. At the Studios, the feeling shifts as well. Windows open to longer light, and the tables fill with colour, materials, and quiet creative focus. In these moments, creativity becomes more than making something. It becomes a way of experiencing the world differently. When we draw, paint, stitch, or shape clay, we begin to notice more colour, texture, light, and small details that might otherwise pass us by. Like the daffodils returning each year, creativity reminds us that renewal and possibility are always close at hand.

Land acknowledgement and commitment to Learning and Support
Stone Manor Studios recognizes that it was established on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Huron-Wendat, and Haudenosaunee peoples, which are covered by the Upper Canada Treaties. These lands have long been the traditional territory of the Arendarhonan, Huron-Wendat Nation, Oneida, Haudenosaunee Nation, and Mississaugas, Anishinaabeg Nation.
As settlers, we express gratitude to the generations of people who have called this land home and appreciate the opportunity to live and collaborate on Turtle Island. We acknowledge the historical impact of our ancestors' arrival, including the injustices and inequalities that continue to affect communities today.
